This essay explores, in juxtaposed texts, the reconstructed trajectory of the literary hero (namely the architect Ioanide, central character of the novels Bietul Ioanide şi Scrinul Negru by G. Călinescu) and the history of the personalities and works of real architects who lived and built during Ioanide and who, apparently, provided the reference material for the novelist’s writings.
