Cosmin Petru Paulescu

object. installation. performance.

Installation art (with photos, posters and ready-mades), is one of the most handy and active relays of reference to community events, those that can be affectively redistributed through a new situation. The demarches of this modality certainly come from scenography, montage, event and the subtle promotion of the ready-made. Cosmin Paulescu has become the cartographer of Romania’s social and political drifts: Port-map-Cozo with his “Portable Territoriesˮ. Since 1997 he “actsˮ in performance, installation, object, painting. In Paulescuˮs career he has moved from interrogating a rear-view mirror “where we come from”, using photographs of the communist era, whether familiar, industrial or political, to commenting on current affairs and “cleaningˮ them up, at least through visual catharsis. (Excerpts from Aurelia Mocanu’s critical text)
