The paper is a doctoral research that shapes the history of Romanian design from the socialist period. The subject falls from a temporal perspective (1970-1990) in the concept of recent history, and from a theoretical perspective in the issue of democratic design, a conceptual construction of socialist origin from the late nineteenth century, identified mainly, by the following characteristics: everyday objects, of quality, mass-produced, for the “masses” of users and available at affordable prices for “everyone”.
