with painting, but also with other artistic genres (such as poetry or architecture).<br \/>\nNaturally, the analysis of the writing-image dialogue required a brief overview of the history of writing, beginning with its figurative form, passing through the specific transformations of the most important civilizations and historical periods, and arriving at its current form.<br \/>\nFour forms of the text-image combination were identified: writing without differentiation from the image (the pictographic and ideographic stages), writing complementary to the image (serving a documentary or explanatory role, but already with aesthetic concerns), the return of writing to the status of an image (a purely visual sign, whether it is readable or merely mimics writing), and writing that takes precedence over the image (in typography, book illustration,
